In some cases your SMART Board 4000 series interactive flat panel may need to be configured or calibrated, this is done when touch is inaccurate or not working. This article has instructions on the configuration and calibration of your interactive flat panel.



OVERVIEW

When touch is inaccurate or not working on your SMART Board 4000 series interactive flat panel, it needs to be configured or calibrated. The following instructions are on how to configure and calibrate your interactive flat panel.


Important: The interactive flat panel is calibrated at the factory, SMART recommends to configure the interactive flat panel and then calibrate to resolve touch inaccuracy.

The following are steps for configuring and calibrating touch on your interactive flat panel.


Configuring your touch and display settings for your SMART Board 4000 series interactive flat panel

If touch isn't working:

Ensure that the USB cable is properly connected.

Try power cycling the interactive flat panel.

Ensure that Windows automatically installs the required device drivers

If you have multiple displays, ensure they are set up correctly (see Setting up multiple displays)


If touch is inaccurate:

  • Ensure that your resolution is set to one of the supported resolutions (see Supported resolutions)
  • Your interactive flat panel supports the following resolutions:
  • 1920 × 1080
  • 1600 × 1200
  • 1280 × 1024
  • 1360 × 768
  • 1280 × 960
  • 1280 × 768
  • 1280 × 720
  • 1024 × 768
  • 800 × 600
  • 640 × 480

If you have multiple displays, ensure they're set up correctly (see Setting up multiple displays)

Check your graphics card configuration (see Graphics card configuration)

  • Check your screen mode (see Screen mode)
  • Ensure the screen mode is 16:9 or Full, and you have selected the correct input source.

    Important: You can use the Auto adjust option to adjust the display size or positioning for supported resolutions only. 

  • Calibrate your interactive flat panel:
    • WINDOWS 10:
      1. Open Control Panel > Tablet and PC Settings. Ensure that the Display tab is visible.
        Note: If you have multiple monitors ensure that you have identified the interactive flat panel as your touch screen. See Setting up multiple displays.
      2. Click Calibrate.
      3. Press each target with an interactive flat panel pen as it appears.
        Note: Each target may take several attempts, so please be patient with this process.
      4. Follow the instructions on the interactive flat panel.
      5. When finished, click OK on the Tablet and PC settings page to finish the calibration.
      6. Important: If you make a mistake like pressing somewhere else then the target you will have to repeat the procedure.

        Note: To clear your calibration data, for example, if you accidentally performed the procedure, click Reset

    • MacOS:

      1. Before you calibrate your interactive flat panel, ensure that you have installed the required drivers. See smarttech.com/E70and40xxSoftware for product drivers and software.

      2. Press the SMART Notebook icon and select SMART Settings. The SMART Settings dialog box appears.

      3. In the Tasks area, press Orient/Align the SMART product.

      4. The orientation screen appears.

      5. If the orientation screen appears on your computer, click Next.
        OR
        If the orientation screen appears on your interactive flat panel, press the cross.

      6. Press and hold the cross until a circle appears around the cross and the circle turns dark blue.

      7. Press and hold each cross as it appears.

      8. Important: If you’re using multiple displays, the orient screen automatically moves to the next display. If this other display is not an interactive flat panel, touch screen press ESC. If you accidentally touch the flat panel while the orient screen is on this display, you will have to repeat the procedure above.

      9. Reset a previous calibration (see Resetting a calibration)
