Welcome to WISS!

WISS staff can also find this information on the IT Support page of the WISSwide SharePoint (Staff) site.

Please feel free to email us or drop into the IT Support office at A2.1 if you need any further advice or assistance (or if you just want to chat).

WISS Network Login

When logging into any WISS-owned computers, please use your assigned details. This is usually the first letter of your preferred name and your last name, no spaces, no capitals or special characters. Your password will be the one you set by yourself.

You can change your password anytime you are on campus and logged into a WISS Windows computer by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL and choosing 'Change Password'. The security requirements for passwords are a MINIMUM of:

  • 8 characters length, comprised of at least:
    • 1 uppercase and 1 lowercase letter
    • 1 number
    • NO part of your name

If you cannot remember, please contact techsupport@wiss.cn and ask to have your password reset.

WISS Microsoft 365 Account (Includes Outlook Email and Office Apps)

Login at http://o365.wiss.cn (you will be redirected to our secure https site)

Your username is your full WISS Email address
Your password is the same as your network login password

Changing the login password will also change the email password. You can access your WISS Microsoft 365 account (including your email) from anywhere by using a web browser (all major browsers are supported) and typing the URL http://o365.wiss.cn. First, you will be redirected to our secure https site, then you will be asked for a username and password, enter your WISS EMAIL for the username and WISS password for your password.

You may also use the Microsoft Outlook desktop and smartphone applications for accessing your email or your personal device's built-in email apps.

WISS WiFi

We have several WIFI networks at WISS.

There are two networks for WISS-owned computers: WISS-EQPT (for Windows devices) and WISS-Apple (for Apple devices). Your WISS-issued device (if you have one) should connect to these automatically, and you should not change the WIFI.

If you are using your own personal (non-WISS-Issued equipment), you can choose from three WIFI networks. Please make sure to choose the correct WIFI:

  1. Guests without a WISS account
  1. Staff personal devices (1 device per staff member)

Note that while WISS WIFI covers 100% of our building interiors, WiFi is not available on the campus grounds outside of the buildings.

Document Access and Storage

Where one is available, we allow the use of the local computer hard-drive (usually labelled 'D' Data drive). While it is much faster to work on the local drive and you gain lots of extra storage space, please be aware that the IT Dept. does NOT back up the local hard-drive data, and it is only available from the local machine.

We use Sharepoint for storing all our collaborative documents, for use from any modern browser on an internet-connected computer. Sharepoint sites and documents are internally facing only, meaning they only can be accessed by those with a wiss.cn account. Sharepoint documents by default are shared with each Sharepoint site's membership group.

While Sharepoint is primarily for collaboration and shared group files, OneDrive is where you should store your private work files. OneDrive files are NOT shared by default. You may use your WISS Microsoft 365 OneDrive for storing documents in the cloud. You may also set up your OneDrive app to sync your files from the cloud to your local machine. Your files will also be accessible from any modern browser on an internet-connected computer.

Printers

Each person has an individual account for printing and photocopying. To login to any WISS printer type in your WISS network login name and password. Optionally you may create a printer PIN code to login with instead of your network login details.

You may print from any WISS computer to the print server then collect your prints from any of the WISS Printers. You can find a list of printer locations on our Helpdesk.

Once logged in you will see a list of files that you sent to the printer. Touch to highlight the file(s) you want then choose to print (or delete). The printers can also scan documents to email and photocopy. Remember, if you want to scan you MUST select the ‘Scan-to-me‘ option BEFORE you login.

If you use your entire balance of print credit before the academic year ends, please get in touch with your Principal or Director, who may choose to authorize a top-up (or not). Please print responsibly, especially when it comes to expensive colour copies.

Systems administered by other departments

Your passwords for these accounts are NOT linked to the network login password and will remain unaffected by any changes you make to your network login password.
